Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a therapy which believes in the body’s innate ability to heal itself and utilises “The Laws of Nature” to treat disease. Naturopathy does not involve the use of drugs, chemicals, surgery or other artificial and intrusive methods to achieve health.

Naturopathy asserts that disease occurs when a part of a whole organism isn’t working well. Factors such as a bad diet, poor elimination of body wastes, injury, destructive emotions, suppressive drugs, hereditary traits, lack of exercise and environmental pollutants all contribute to throw the body out of balance.

The naturopath aims to identify the cause of illness, help the body to eliminate the illness and restore it to a state of balance and may use many methods to achieve this. In fact many naturopaths also use other natural therapies such as (but not limited to) homeopathy, iridology and acupuncture. They will either be qualified in these other therapies or will recommend you to another qualified therapist for further treatment.

Naturopaths believe that good health depends on maintaining a good body structure (posture, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments), good biochemistry (through good food and drinks) and positive emotions. These three principles are known as the “triad of health”.

Treatment involves a holistic approach incorporating water, whole-foods, sunlight, relaxation, fresh air and exercise as well as a natural lifestyle.
