"Tofurkey" Burgers

Serves: 6-8 People Preparation Time: 10-20 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

500g (about 1 pound) Firm Tofu
1 Large Onion (finely diced)
3 to 6 Garlic Cloves
2 tbsp Dark Soya Sauce
2 tbsp Rice Wine
2 tbsp Nutritional Yeast
½ cup Whole-wheat Flour
Black Pepper (to taste)
Olive Oil

Preparation Instructions:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200°C.

  2. Wash and dry the tofu.

  3. Crumble the tofu into a food processor and process until mixture is very fine.

  4. Add all of the other ingredients to the tofu and mix well with a wooden spoon.

  5. Take amounts of the mixture between your hands and press them into burger shapes. (The amount of mixture you take depends on how big you want your burgers to be).

  6. Place the burger patties onto a lightly greased baking sheet and brush the tops with a little olive oil.

  7. Put the burgers into the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until they start to brown on the edges.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve on a multi-grain bun with lettuce, tomato and onion.
